Innovation Funding & Development Programmes
MetPET is a project supported and funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) under the Technology Development Element (TDE) programme (Contract No. 4000151463/26/NL/VR/mmo). The objective of the activity is to develop metallised PET film capacitors in SMD format, specifically designed for space applications, with high capacitance and energy density, capable of withstanding high-temperature assembly stresses, supporting a transition to lead-free soldering. The project started on 07/04/2026 and targets a completion by 07/04/2028 with a total budget of €249,756 Euros.
The MetPET consortium is lead and coordinated by CIDETEC Surface Engineering of Spain and includes Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics (IMiF) in Poland and Miflex Solutions as the industrial capacitor partner. Zakłady Podzespołów Radiowych “MIFLEX SA” in Kutno was established in 1957, starting its activity with the production of simple radio capacitors. The company now trades as Miflex Solutions Sp.z o.o. and is currently the largest manufacturer of capacitors and a wide range of passive electronic components in Poland.
Their applications include, among others, household appliances, lighting, audio, power electrical equipment, electrical machines and devices (pumps, fans, power tools), single-phase current motors, compressors and others.
